Microsoft Surface Duo

Surface Duo

The perfect balance of productivity and mobility. Surface Duo is a new dual-screen device that fits in your pocket. With two screens connected by a revolutionary 360° hinge, Surface Duo brings together the best of Microsoft and Android to reimagine productivity on the go. Coming Holiday 2020.

The Microsoft Surface Duo, also known as the Surface Duo, is an upcoming foldable device announced during Microsoft's Surface hardware conference on October 2, 2019. The device will work as a complement to the Microsoft Surface Neo, running Windows 10X, which was also announced during the event. Unlike previous Microsoft products, which run a in-house operating system, such as the recently discontinued Windows 10 Mobile, it will run Android instead. The device is generally regarded as a smartphone, however, Microsoft itself is reluctant to use the term to describe the device, instead referring to it as the newest member of the Surface family.

The device is expected to ship with the Android operating system, but the version which it will ship with is currently unknown. Preliminary reports suggest that the Microsoft are collaborating with Google to create a form of Android dedicated to the Surface Duo, but these are not confirmed.

Pyrite (fool's gold)

 Fool's gold

Pyrite's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. The color has also led to the nicknames brass, Brazzle, and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal.

The name pyrite is derived from the Greek πυρίτης λίθος (pyritēs lithos), "stone or mineral which strikes fire", in turn from πῦρ (pyr), "fire". In ancient Roman times, this name was applied to several types of stone that would create sparks when struck against steelPliny the Elder described one of them as being brassy, almost certainly a reference to what we now call pyrite.

By Georgius Agricola's time, c. 1550, the term had become a generic term for all of the sulfide minerals.

Pyrite under normal and polarized light

Pyrite is usually found associated with other sulfides or oxides in quartz veinssedimentary rock, and metamorphic rock, as well as in coal beds and as a replacement mineral in fossils, but has also been identified in the sclerites of scaly-foot gastropods.[12] Despite being nicknamed fool's gold, pyrite is sometimes found in association with small quantities of gold. A substantial proportion of the gold is "invisible gold" incorporated into the pyrite (see Carlin-type gold deposit). It has been suggested that the presence of both gold and arsenic is a case of coupled substitution but as of 1997, the chemical state of the gold remained controversial.

Uses

An abandoned pyrite mine near Pernek in Slovakia

Pyrite enjoyed brief popularity in the 16th and 17th centuries as a source of ignition in early firearms, most notably the wheellock, where a sample of pyrite was placed against a circular file to strike the sparks needed to fire the gun.

Pyrite has been used since classical times to manufacture copperas (iron(II) sulfate). Iron pyrite was heaped up and allowed to weather (an example of an early form of heap leaching). The acidic runoff from the heap was then boiled with iron to produce iron sulfate. In the 15th century, new methods of such leaching began to replace the burning of sulfur as a source of sulfuric acid. By the 19th century, it had become the dominant method.

Pyrite remains in commercial use for the production of sulfur dioxide, for use in such applications as the paper industry, and in the manufacture of sulfuric acid. Thermal decomposition of pyrite into FeS (iron(II) sulfide) and elemental sulfur starts at 540 °C (1,004 °F); at around 700 °C (1,292 °F), pS2 is about 1 atm.

A newer commercial use for pyrite is the cathode material in Energizer brand non-rechargeable lithium batteries.

Pyrite is a semiconductor material with a band gap of 0.95 eV. Pure pyrite is naturally n-type, in both crystal and thin-film forms, potentially due to sulfur vacancies in the pyrite crystal structure acting as n-dopants.

During the early years of the 20th century, pyrite was used as a mineral detector in radio receivers, and is still used by crystal radio hobbyists. Until the vacuum tube matured, the crystal detector was the most sensitive and dependable detector available—with considerable variation between mineral types and even individual samples within a particular type of mineral. Pyrite detectors occupied a midway point between galena detectors and the more mechanically complicated perikon mineral pairs. Pyrite detectors can be as sensitive as a modern 1N34A germanium diode detector.

Pyrite has been proposed as an abundant, non-toxic, inexpensive material in low-cost photovoltaic solar panels. Synthetic iron sulfide was used with copper sulfide to create the photovoltaic material. More recent efforts are working toward thin-film solar cells made entirely of pyrite.

Pyrite is used to make marcasite jewelry. Marcasite jewelry, made from small faceted pieces of pyrite, often set in silver, was known since ancient times and was popular in the Victorian era. At the time when the term became common in jewelry making, "marcasite" referred to all iron sulfides including pyrite, and not to the orthorhombic FeS2 mineral marcasite which is lighter in color, brittle and chemically unstable, and thus not suitable for jewelry making. Marcasite jewelry does not actually contain the mineral marcasite. The specimens of pyrite, when it appears as good quality crystals, are used in decoration. They are also very popular in mineral collecting. Among the sites that provide the best specimens, highlights the exploited in Navajún, La Rioja (Spain).

China represents the main importing country with an import of around 376,000 tonnes, which resulted at 45% of total global imports. China is also the fastest growing in terms of the unroasted iron pyrites imports, with a CAGR of +27.8% from 2007 to 2016. In value terms, China ($47 million) constitutes the largest market for imported unroasted iron pyrites worldwide, making up 65% of global imports.

Formal oxidation states for pyrite, marcasite, and arsenopyrite

From the perspective of classical inorganic chemistry, which assigns formal oxidation states to each atom, pyrite is probably best described as Fe2+S22−. This formalism recognizes that the sulfur atoms in pyrite occur in pairs with clear S–S bonds. These persulfide units can be viewed as derived from hydrogen disulfide, H2S2. Thus pyrite would be more descriptively called iron persulfide, not iron disulfide. In contrast, molybdeniteMoS2, features isolated sulfide (S2−) centers and the oxidation state of molybdenum is Mo4+. The mineral arsenopyrite has the formula FeAsS. Whereas pyrite has S2 subunits, arsenopyrite has [AsS] units, formally derived from deprotonation of H2AsSH. Analysis of classical oxidation states would recommend the description of arsenopyrite as Fe3+[AsS]3−.

New Mahindra Thar 2020 spy pics: Important questions about upcoming Mahindra SUV answered

The new-gen Mahindra Thar is easily one of the most anticipated cars of 2020. Its prototype has been spotted doing rounds on the public roads several times in the past and it looks like Mahindra has left no stone unturned in the making of the new generation model.

Here's why it might be another game changer from Mahindra:

Better daily driver:

With the new generation, Mahindra Thar will evolve as a more road-friendly SUV, unlike the first-gen model which focused only on the hardcore off-roading audiences. The new Thar will be a better daily driver which will also suit daily city roads and thus its overall customer base will be broader.

Bigger than before:

Obvious from the countless spy images seen to date. The new-gen Thar has a wider, bolder stance with more prominent wheel arches and taller height. It looks slightly bigger than the model it replaces and that should make it a more aggressive-looking SUV. Unlike the previous model, this time Mahindra will launch the Thar in both soft as well as hard rooftop options.

Front-facing rear seats:

The new-gen Thar will feature a safer and more comfortable front-facing second-row, unlike its predecessor. This update will make the world of a difference to the passengers in the second row.

New engine choices and automatic transmission:

It will most likely employ the new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, as well as a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Both the powertrains will be BS 6-compliant. The transmission duties may include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic choice.

Completely revamped cabin:

The 2020 Thar will host a completely new cabin with a different layout for the dashboard. It will boast new features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, multi-info display inside the driver's screen, manual AC, power-folding wing mirrors, multiple USB ports, new steering, new seats, and a reposition 4x4 lever.

Self Care For Veterans Pursuing Business Ownership: Making Your Health A Priority

Self Care For Veterans Pursuing Business Ownership: Making Your Health A Priority

By Erica Francis

Veterans and people with disabilities often find themselves struggling to find a good fit when it comes to traditional employment. Whether one is dealing with physical disabilities or mental health issues, a regular job can be challenging to maintain. For many people in this type of situation, owning a business for themselves is a more desirable path to take. However, business ownership can be challenging and recognizing the need for self care as you build your business is essential.

Civilian jobs are not always a good fit for veterans

The Miami Herald explains that it can be rather difficult for military veterans to find a good fit for employment in the civilian sector. The expectations and skills needed to be successful can feel like a major disconnect from how things are done in the military. In addition, a veteran's health issues like physical disabilities or mental health challenges such as depression or addiction can make traditional employment all the more challenging.

Adjusting to civilian life can be difficult enough, but feeling obligated to take a job that is a poor fit for a veteran's needs can add stress and take a substantial toll on a veteran's health. This can be an additionally difficult hurdle if a veteran's health issues include invisible injuries such as PTSD or traumatic brain injuries. For many veterans, turning to business ownership becomes a better fit.

Finding balance can be difficult, but essential, in building a business

Business ownership can be rewarding and lucrative, but it can be stressful and overwhelming as well. Veterans are accustomed to big challenges and stress, but in this new type of setting it can be difficult to find and maintain a healthy balance and taking care of one's health often falls to the wayside.

The Armed Forces Benefit Association details that as veterans adjust to civilian life and perhaps embark on starting their own business that they should work to focus on one step at a time and be patient with themselves and how slowly things may progress. Try to establish a predictable daily routine and make sure you incorporate physical activity, quality dietary choices, family time, and self care time into your routine.

Watch for signs of health trouble and practice self care

It is wise for veterans to watch for issues like sleep problems and a loss of appetite during the process of adjusting to civilian life and building a business. Make the Connection adds that if you are feeling on edge, angry, or irritable much of the time, or feeling a loss of interest in regular activities, it is critical that you reach out to a therapist, doctor, or trusted loved one to get help and support.

Therapy and medication can help to alleviate issues of PTSD, depression, or anxiety in relation to a veteran's health. When you are working on starting your own business, you may feel as if self care needs to be a low priority. As Entrepreneur suggests, however, self care may need to be one of your very highest priorities as you embark on business ownership.

Starting your own business requires you to bring your best to the process, as you need to take care of yourself before you can succeed with your new idea. Daily Worth suggests scheduling time at the gym, a few moments for meditation, family time, or an opportunity to pursue your hobbies to ensure that you are in the best position possible in terms of your mental health to build your dream business.

Owning a business can be a dream come true for veterans transitioning into civilian life. There is an appeal to being your own boss and having a flexible schedule, especially in the midst of mental health issues like depression or addiction. Business ownership can be lucrative and rewarding, but it can also be stressful and overwhelming. It is critical that time be made for self care during the process of building a business as it will help build a veteran’s mental and physical health and provide a solid foundation upon which to build a successful business.

A new era at Juventus

A new era at Juventus

Can Pirlo replicate fellow midfielders Zidane, Guardiola’s success as coach?

A new era at Juventus: Can Pirlo replicate fellow midfielders Zidane, Guardiola’s success as coach?

A first coaching job and already high expectations, Andrea Pirlo’s arrival at Juventus has sparked hopes in Italy that he can follow footballing greats Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola’s managerial success.

Andrea Pirlo is starting a path that maybe one day will lead him to the top of the first team,” club president Andrea Agnelli said on July 31.

A week later, Pirlo has already taken over from Maurizio Sarri after the reigning nine-time Italian champions crashed out of the Champions League in the last 16.

“A team is made up of dynamics, interpersonal relationships, expressions,” said Agnelli on Pirlo’s arrival at the club. And Pirlo speaks the language of players, with four league titles won at Juventus between 2011 and 2015, before ending his playing career in November 2017 after three seasons in MLS.

“Even during the years away from the club, I kept the relationships,” said Brescia-native Pirlo. “It was normal for me to live in Turin and it feels normal to return to work here.

Lets discuss #1

 What is draft EIA?

Under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, India notified its first EIA norms in 1994, setting in place a legal framework for regulating activities that access, utilise, and affect (pollute) natural resources.... The 1994 EIA notification was replaced with a modified draft in 2006.

Now, earlier this year, the Indian government came out with the draft Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) notification 2020 seeking to overhaul the norms governing the environment clearance process for industrial projects.

Government’s crackdown renews interest in draft EIA 2020

  • Earlier this year, the Indian government came out with the draft Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) notification 2020 seeking to overhaul the norms governing the environment clearance process for industrial projects.
  • The draft came under severe criticism with experts and environmentalists alleging that it seeks to dilute the present laws. To ensure wider public participation and consultation before the changes are made, several groups started campaigns including mass emails to the environment ministry.
  • India’s Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar’s complaint to Delhi Police against the mass emails to his inbox led to action against three environmental collectives – Let India Breathe, Fridays For Future India and There is No Earth B. The three websites were blocked and the police issued a notice under the stringent anti-terror law, which it later withdrew claiming there was an error.
  • The government’s action has led to a renewed opposition to the draft EIA 2020. The final deadline for public consultation ends on August 11.

Earlier this month, a complaint from India’s Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar to the Delhi police against mass emails to his inbox led to blocking of websites of three environment collectives that were seeking wider consultations and scrapping of a proposed dilution in country’s environmental norms. While the move was criticised for alleged digital censorship, it also ended up reigniting the public’s interest in the issue.

During the extended consultation period, experts, activists, non-governmental organisations and collectives such as these three upped the ante against the draft EIA 2020 and mobilised public support against it providing ways to reach out to the government. One of the offerings of these websites was email templates for citizens to participate in public consultation to the Draft EIA 2020 which could be used by individuals to send emails with their concerns to the environment minister. The minister filed a complaint to the police against the influx of emails which then led to the temporary blocking of these websites.
